Genius Solitaire
Genius Solitaire is a captivating single-deck card game that challenges players to use both strategy and luck to succeed. The game begins by shuffling all 52 cards and dealing them into seven tableau piles: the first pile gets one card, the second gets two cards, and so on until the seventh pile has seven cards. The top card of each tableau pile is dealt face up, while all the remaining cards are dealt face down, hidden from view. The leftover cards form the stockpile, which can be drawn from when no other moves are available. The ultimate objective of Genius Solitaire is to move all cards to four foundation piles, each of which must be built up by suit in ascending order, from Ace to King.
Players can build tableau piles in descending order, alternating colors, much like Klondike Solitaire. Only the top card of each pile can be moved, but properly ordered sequences of alternating colors can also be transferred as a group. If a tableau pile is completely cleared, the empty space can only be filled with a King or a sequence starting with a King. This adds a strategic player as players must decide when to free up a space and how to best utilize it. The stockpile can be cycled through multiple times, allowing players to find and use cards that might help progress the game. Success in Genius Solitaire requires careful planning, patience, and the foresight to anticipate future moves to avoid becoming blocked.
