Golf Solitaire

Welcome to my update Golf Solitaire website. I've added a lot of games and put together a new theme & layout. I've kept the old versions around in case you preferred that, but I'm hoping you'll like the changes we've made.

How to play

To those who have never played Golf Solitaire, your goal is to remove all the cards from fthe columns by placing them in the waste pile at the bottom of the game screen. You do this by clicking a card that has a value of one greater than, or one less than the card currently on the top of the waste pile. If there is no card on the top of the waste pile you can click any card you want to start it out. You can also put an Ace on top of a King, or a King on top of an Ace. If you get stuck you can click the stock pile to add another card to the top of the waste pile. Hopefully this will let you continue. You win the game if you can remove all the cards from the columns, and the game is over if you run out of legal moves.

Perhaps the introduction of one wild card to use at any time would be an advantage. This was an option in the tri-peaks game which makes it more interesting.

happy fingers would like an undo

Reply from Rick: There's an Undo button in the bottom left of the game screen.

    Hope that helps, :-)

oops, I just now noticed the 'Score' card at the bottom, which shows how many are left. However, sometimes the game is over before the cards run out. Is this because of the timer? Is there an option to turn the timer off? Also, forgot to thank you for creating a fab game site!

Reply from Rick: Glad you found it :-)

The game ends when you either remove all the cards, or run out of possible moves.

    Thanks again, :-)

Hi, I love your site, and playing Golf Solitaire is very nice: simple, elegant layout. The only suggestion I have is to have a counter or something to let the player know how many cards are left. Other than that, it's an awesome site!

Reply from Rick: Thanks for the kind words :-)

The 'Score' in Golf Solitaire is actually the number of cards you have left. Your goal is to try and get the lowest score possible.

    Hope that helps, :-)

would like to screen to stay enlarged.

Reply from Rick: The screen leaves full screen mode when the game is over. You can just click the 'Full Screen' button again. I know it's not idea, but I had users that weren't sure how to exit full screen mode when the game was over.

    Thanks for the suggestion, :-)

Is this game winnable every time you play it?

Reply from Rick: No, unfortunately Golf is not a solitaire game that can be won in every deal. I've thought of coding it so that you only get deals that can be won, but I have mixed feelings about that... and I haven't had a chance to do it.

    Thanks for playing, :-)

Hi again......I can usually complete a game withinh 30 seconds based upon the timer you have on the game......

Reply from Rick: That is crazy fast! It's entirely possible you're seeing a problem I don't because it takes me 3 or 4 times as long to finish a game.

I believe you are having a problem, but I'm not quite sure how to trouble shoot it since you are so much faster than I am.

    Hopefully I'll think of something.

Thanks for letting me know, :-)

I enjoy your solitaire golf game, however, there are times when I must click on the card 2 or 3 times to get it to move it. This especially happens when I am going very quickly to beat my previous score, and re-hitting those extra times slows the time down considerably. Thanks, though, for creating the games and for permitting us to make suggestions.

Reply from Rick: I haven't really noticed that. I'm not sure if I'm clicking slower than you are, or if my hardware is faster. I just tried clicking pretty fast, and I wasn't able to see the issue... but unfortunately, I just can't click the cards that fast.

How fast are you able to click the cards?

Thanks for letting me know, :-)

I am enjoying all the new games and I'm happy to see that the old ones are still available as well. I do find that the colors in the new Golf Solitaire make it more difficult to spot the cards. I believe they need more color definition. I'm not complaining though!

Reply from Rick: More and more I've been considering making a site with my old cards and background, but with the new code base. I like the new themes a lot, but some people do have trouble reading the cards.

    Thanks for the suggestion, :-)

When a large screen is requested to play golf solitaire, please leave it large so it stays large until game is over or until escape button releases it.

Reply from Rick: I understand the request, and I've been thinking about popping it back into full screen mode when someone hits the 'New Game' button. Unfortunately some people have missed the message that tells them to hit escape to exit, and when they get to the end of the game aren't sure what to do to quit full screen mode.

    Thanks for the suggestion, :-)

Dont start the clock until the first card is drawn.

Reply from Rick: I've been considering making that change to all my games. It's something I've been thinking about anyway.

    Thanks for the suggestion, :-)

mute button on all of them

Reply from Rick: There are mute buttons on most of the games. There's a little speaker icon in the bottom left, if you click it an X will go over it and that will turn the sound off.

    Hope that helps,
    Rick

I'm enjoying this game more since this has been added, but who is the new record for.

Reply from Rick: The 'New Record' message tells you that you have a new personal best. At some point I want to add a leader board... I'm not quite there yet.

    Thanks for playing, :-)
